Katie Moon Defends Olympic Title in Paris

Moon Takes Silver in the Women's Pole Vault

American pole vaulter Katie Moon defended her Olympic title in Paris on Tuesday, winning the gold medal in the women's pole vault. Moon cleared a height of 4.95 meters on her third attempt, setting a new Olympic record. She defeated reigning world champion Anzhelika Sidorova of Russia, who took the silver medal with a jump of 4.85 meters.

Moon is the first American woman to win back-to-back Olympic gold medals in the pole vault. She is also the first American woman to win three Olympic medals in the event, having won a bronze medal in 2016.

Moon's victory is a major boost for Team USA, which has struggled to win medals in track and field in recent years. It is also a personal triumph for Moon, who has worked tirelessly to overcome a series of injuries.

Moon's gold medal is the first for Team USA in the pole vault since Stacy Dragila won the event in 2000. It is also the first gold medal for Team USA in any track and field event at the Paris Olympics.
